Memories from a Wonderful Season!

Photos are always a wonderful way to bring back those memories of the great times, and we have some new ones to share.  Follow the links on the right hand side of the page to enjoy the memories of the second Lawrencetown Cup of the season, the Canskate Show, the Youth Shinny Tournament, the Women’s Tournament, and the second Guys and Gals tournament of the season. Wow! March was a VERY busy month at the Arena!!

This year’s ice season was a fun-filled, busy and exciting time!  With 63 children in Canskate, and in the vicinity of 70 youngsters attending shinny hockey, the arena was alive with the happy smiles of youth.

This year, the men’s hockey league players, broomballers, and the women’s shinny hockey enthusiastically played again and again.  The arena added an Adult Skate morning, and a new co-ed hockey group came together for regular play and for tournaments!

We could not have achieved this year’s wonderful success without our volunteers organizing, and working, and recruiting helpers, and fundraising.  Our warmest thanks and applause go out to everyone who made this a special place to be this winter!!

The great condition of the ice, the building, the office, and the arena’s atmosphere could not have been better, thanks to the superb efforts of our staff – they are the best! Thanks, Rickey, Linda and John, for a terrific season and your unstinting work at any and all hours!

We are thrilled to announce that the Municipality of Annapolis County has approved a Capital Pledge Grant towards our arena upgrades, in the amount of $20,000!!  We are so pleased to have received this funding to continue to improve the arena so it remains the great regional resource that it is, and to improve it to an energy efficient state that will allow us to keep hockey and skating thriving in Lawrencetown until our youngest skaters grow up to take it on themselves.

We will update the Our Supporters page, soon, to reflect our plans for arena upgrades.  It’s an exciting time.

Thanks for ALL the helping hands and contributions in making this special place ready to open again this winter. We’d like to thank the following businesses and organizations for their kind contributions in preparing for the 2011-2012 season!

We have, due to rising power, insurance and maintenance costs, been forced to raise our ice rental rates this year.  In keeping with our goal to make skating accessible for youth, we have endeavored to keep those increases as small as possible for the youth rates.  At the same time, we are moving the arena towards using energy more efficiently so we can keep our costs down.  New header pipes were installed this spring, new over-ice lighting was installed this fall, and the addition of a heat reclamation system is scheduled for this winter.  All these measures help keep our costs as low as possible.

General Ice Rental (Per Hour):  $90.00
Youth Organization Rental (Per Hour):  $60.00
Birthday Party Rental (One Hour Ice Time and One Hour Warm Room): $60.00
Public Skating – Adults:     $2.00
Public Skating – Youth/Students: $1.00
Shinny Hockey – Per Session:  $5.00
Monday Adult Skating $3.00

Use the Schedule button to check available ice times and program contact information. For more information or to book ice time, call 584-3349. If we’re busy elsewhere at the time, please leave a message and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
